Benevolent Touch Workshop
Caregivers learn how to enhance the quality of life for older adults, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia or sensory loss due to aging or special needs. This workshop provides the skills required to give positive tactile contact to those who need it, enhancing their feelings of security and belonging, reducing agitation, pacing, and wandering. Benevolent Touch techniques help achieve the following:
  • With your clients: more satisfying bonding, focused interaction, relaxed body language, and more controlled environment.
  • With your staff: stress reduction techniques, more relaxed environment and greater bonding through a sense of caring.
  • With yourself: self-nurturing skills that reduce burn-out, greater energy and better performance levels.
The course is designed for caregivers (therapists, CNAs, activity aides, chaplains, parish nurses, and social workers). Included is a 50-page manual, BT guidelines, non-verbal cues, range and relaxation exercises and massage techniques. Workshop Cost: $60

For a list of upcoming workshops please contact Sandy Anderson at 414-977-5056 or e-mail her at sandya@stanncenter.org or visit our Seasons of Life Newsletter for workshop dates and times.

National Instructor Certification Program
Learn how to teach others the benefits of Benevolent Touch. We'll be with you every step of the way. Once certified, you can offer your own workshops or train your staff or volunteers using our pre-printed materials and Power Point presentation.

The National Instructor Certification Program is an 8-hour course for individuals who would like to teach others about Benevolent Touch. At the end of the course, participants will be given 60 day practicum. To earn final certification, participants must provide their own 4-hour workshop.
