February 1, 2012 - Caregiver Support Group - 1:30pm

Do you need a chance to speak about the demands and frustrations of giving care everyday?  Perhaps simply share with others the things that help you keep going? Take time for yourself and meet with us.  Caregivers meet at Shepherd House, 2801 E. Morgan Avenue, usually the first Wednesday of every month from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.  If you cannot make one of these meetings, you are invited to call Sr. Joanne at 414-482-1340 or e-mail her at jmeyer@stanncenter.org to meet individually or offer suggestions for a better time.  REGISTRATIONS IS NOT NECESSARY for this group.

Please join us for a very special blessing of the new Sullivan Family Veranda.  Our atrium has been under construction for quite some time and it is now OPEN and we are excited to use it.

February 14, 2012 – Client Caribbean Day 10:00 a.m.
We are all going to wear our Caribbean dress and celebrate Valentine’s Day with some “Caribbean love!”  Performer Michael Drake will be here styling his musical talents for a special performance.

February 18, 2012 – Grief Seminar
Putting the pieces of your life back together may be difficult after experiencing loss. Adults who are grieving the death of a loved one weeks, months or years ago are invited to a free Seminar at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care on Saturdays, February 18, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30a.m. St. Ann Center is located just off Kinnickinnic Avenue, at 2801 East Morgan Avenue. 

“Understanding Grief…Putting the Pieces of Your life Back Together” is a community outreach program to help grieving adults understand the common and unique effects of loss, the process of grief, and the journey toward healing, offering hope for the future. This gathering is for adults who are grieving the death of a loved one. The goals of this seminar are to share information regarding grief and healing, to empower those gathered, and to provide them with grief support resources in the area.

Grief affects every part of our lives. During the seminar some topics of discussion will include; learning tools for how to put the pieces of your life back together, learning about how to heal, the difference between cure and heal, and many others.

February 20, 2012 – Atrium Grand Opening Celebration 4pm – 7pm
Join us for a fun “Mardi Gras” Style GRAND CELEBRATION!  We want to celebrate the beautiful new addition to our atrium.  This new space is beautiful and is something you have to see to believe.  There will be music, punch, hors d’oeuvres and much more!  Call us to let us know you’re coming 414-977-5000.

February 21, 2012 – Client & Staff Mardi Gras Party
We will be partying in Grad Mardi Gras Style.  We will have a parade traveling through the building.  It will be led by our own Sister Edna as the Grand Master.  There will be a crowning of the King & Queen (adult and child), good food, other goodies, games, music, noise makers, beads & prizes!!!

February 21, 2012 - Parkinson’s Support Group 1:30pm
If you or someone you know is living with Parkinson's please consider joining this wonderful support group.  It is held the third Tuesday of every month at St. Ann Center in the boardroom.  Topics of conversion include: brain stimulation surgery, progression of medicines, exercises that can help with symptoms and many others.  Everyone is encouraged to ask questions. Occasionally there are speakers on varying topics surrounding Parkinson’s.  Desert and beverages are always served.  No registration is necessary.  Call Hatte Goodman at 414-744-5654 if you have any questions about the group.

March 9, 2012 - Family Fun Night - 5:30pm
Bring the whole family and join us to enjoy an evening of food, games, crafts, fashions and entertainment by comedian and “professional goofball” Don Bursell.  Plus we will be offering hand-crafted jewelry by Sr. Edna Lonergan.  The fun begins at 5:30.  All proceeds from this event will be used to support the Adopt-a-life program at St. Ann Center.  To RSVP for this wonderful event call Kathryn O’Dell at 414-977-5057

March 10, 2012 - Chili, Jewelry & Craft Fair  9am – 1pm
Come in from the lingering cold and enjoy varieties of chili, while browsing beautiful craft items and St. Ann Center’s collection of vintage and gently used jewelry – for sale at incredible prices.  You can also stop by the dozens of booths at the Indoor Farmers Market held that same day in St. Ann Center’s Atrium.

March 12, 2012 - Aquatic Session 2 Begins
St. Ann Center Aquatic Department offers eight week Learn-to-swim classes beginning for all ages.  Please see the AQUATICS page of this website for more information.  Call Kristen at 414-977-5015 to register for swim lessons.

March 15, 2012 – Summer Program Open House 4pm – 6pm

Join us for a special open house where you can meet the summer program counselors and learn about the summer program activities and fieldtrips.  If you have questions about the Summer Program please call Angie at 414-977-5074. March 24, 2012 - Visit with the Easter Bunny - 11:00am – 2:00pm
Hop on into St. Ann Center and bring your children or grandchildren for a visit with the Easter Bunny.  There will be lots of crafts, face painting, and of course a prize-filled Easter Egg Hunt!  Don’t forget a picture with the Easter Bunny too!

March 29, 2012 - Benevolent Touch Workshop - 9am – 1pm
Learn how to enhance the quality of life for those with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, special needs or sensory loss due to aging. The cost is $60 and includes a Benevolent Touch Manual ($20 Value).  This workshop will provide caregivers with the skills to give positive tactile contact, enhancing the feelings of security and belonging, reducing agitation and anxiety, and the tendency to wander.  “Hands-on” practice is included.  For those that want to learn to instruct others in the use of Benevolent touch a National           This program was developed by Sr. Edna Lonergan as a way for individuals to communicate nonverbally with others.  This workshop is designed to help Certified Nursing Assistants, Activity Aides, COTAs, Nurses, Social Workers and others who work with individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or other special needs.  This workshop will provide you with the skills to give positive tactile contact…enhancing the feelings of security and belonging, reducing agitation and anxiety, and the tendency to wander.
