History

1983 Opening Day
St. Ann Adult Day Care opened its doors in the basement of the Sister’s health center (now Juniper Court).

1987 Remodeling
The Adult Day Program moved with 30 clients to the newly remodeled Leandra and St. Francis Hall in the basement of St. Francis Convent.

1990 Outpatient Rehabilitation Department opened

1994 First House Raffle

1996 Benevolent Touch (BT) Program Began
BT is a program, developed by Sr. Edna Lonergan, that teaches caregivers how you to enhance the quality of life for those with Alzheimer’s disease, other forms of dementia or those with sensory loss due to aging.

1999 Grand Opening-New Intergenerational Facility
St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care opened its doors.

The Child Day Center was opened. This intergenerational program began with a mission to serve the underserved included day services for the whole person–body, mind and spirit.

1999 Shepherd House Began
The old St. Ann Center location was converted and renamed, Shepherd House. This location began to serve only Alzheimer’s and dementia clients and continues there today.

2001
St. Ann Center wins first place “Service to Seniors Award” from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.

2003 Twentieth Anniversary Celebration of St. Ann’s Adult Day Care

2007 Overnight Respite Center Opened
The Center’s new addition opened to include a 24-hour overnight respite service allowing caregivers a worry-free vacation, business trip or much-needed time off to rejuvenate themselves. The addition also provided new space for the hair and nail salon and outpatient rehabilitation.

2008 25th Anniversary Celebration

2008 & 2009 St. Ann Center wins Intergenerational Shared Site Best Practices Award from Generations United in Washington, D.C.
