Spirituality Services - 414-977-5020

Spirituality Services is an inclusive approach that focuses on the total person – body, mind and spirit. We welcome all who seek a deeper relationship with God, others and themselves. Our resources are designed to foster personal spiritual growth and awareness, as well as a connection with other individuals and all creation. Spirituality Services is one aspect of the Wellness Services provided at St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care.

Vision Statement
Spirituality means being in right relationship with God, self and all of creation.

Spirituality makes tangible in the world our dreams, hopes and beliefs based on the lead of God’s spirit as we understand it in our heart, mind, spirit and body.

Spirituality refers to the way in which one finds oneself in relation to God and all of creation, and the practices that enhance that relationship.

Spirituality is a growing intimacy with God experienced through persons, places, events and things in everyday life.

Spirituality is a journey of our body and soul, mind and heart, coming together to experience God's unconditional love.

Spirituality means finding hope and making peace

Retreats
A Preached Retreat is a group retreat with focus on a specific theme. The format will include two conferences daily, personal and group worship and reflection time.

A Guided Retreat is a small group retreat which consists of a daily presentation, quiet reflection time, prayer/ritual, individual spiritual guidance and group process.

An Individually Directed Retreat provides the opportunity for a personal encounter with God in prayer and solitude. The retreatant meets daily with a director.

Massage is available during retreats upon request for an additional fee per person.

Meditation/Prayer
The staff is available to teach a variety of forms of meditation and prayer: centering prayer, praying with scripture and other spiritual texts, prayer without words (contemplation), praying with life experiences and using the mandalla. The desired result is peace, serenity, and new insight.

Spiritual Guidance
Spiritual guidance is a process that involves either a personal or group meeting with a spiritual guide. The meetings are growth oriented. Regularity and continuity of contact enrich the experience. Spiritual guidance encourages a relationship which focuses on discovering God in the experiences of life. A spiritual guide listens without judging and keeps the sharing confidential. It is a meaningful way for persons of any faith tradition to attend to their spiritual care and their relationship with the Divine in all life. Spiritual guidance is helpful when seeking a deeper relationship with God, or different ways to communicate with the Divine.

Pastoral Counseling
A pastoral counselor is trained in psychology and theology. Thus both psychological and spiritual issues can be addressed. Pastoral counseling is a consideration if you are experiencing emotional difficulties and wish to address them in a spiritual context. Pastoral counselors are not medical doctors and may not prescribe medication.

In situations where a pastoral counselor believes medication can be helpful, the client will be referred to a psychiatrist, a medical doctor, who specializes in treating mental, emotional and behavioral disorders. Usually, therapy will continue with the pastoral counselor. The psychiatrist will supervise the client's medication.

Days of Reflection
Days of reflection are available for groups or individuals who would like to explore a specific topic or deepen their integration of faith and life through prayer, shared discussion, and silence. This experience includes a common meal which is either brought or purchased by the participants.

Seminars and Workshops
Seminars and workshops are presented around a variety of topics and issues, such as discussing a spiritual book, peace & justice issues, self-nurturance and creativity without words. They provide participants with sharing experiences and learning how the topic being offered can enhance their spiritual journey and improve their relationships with family, friends and co-workers.
